The Governor, House and Senate leaders are meeting to establish conference committee targets—the amount of new spending allocated to each of the House/Senate budget conference committees. The target established for the E-12 Education Conference Committee will determine education funding for the next two years.
The current and past AMSD chairs made a case for what these targets should be in the Star Tribune:
It is critical that you contact House and Senate leaders, and your local legislators, TODAY to urge an E-12 conference committee target of AT LEAST the level proposed by the Governor to allow a funding formula increase of 3 percent and 2 percent, plus special education funding. Funding education is the constitutional duty of our Legislature.
